The theme for the 2004 Japanese Festival was the classical warrior traditions of Japan, Koryu Bugei.
Our album includes pictures from demonstrations given by many of the leading exponents of koryu arts in the United States, including Dave Lowry, Phil Relnick, Larry Bieri, Ellis Amdur, and Mike and Diane Skoss.
This album also contatins pictures from our Second Annual Aikido Demonstration on Sunday and Monday.
St. Louis Aikikai was honoured to welcome Haruo Matsuoka, 5th Dan, to St. Louis, Missouri, for a friendship seminar open to all interested martial artists.
Matsuoka Sensei currently trains under the direction of Master Seiseki Abe Sensei (10th Dan), one of the closest and highest ranking disciples of O-Sensei, the founder of Aikido.
For more than twenty years, Matsuoka Sensei was one of the highest-ranking disciples of Master Steven Seagal (7th Dan) and served as Chief Instructor of his Los Angeles-based Tenshin Dojo from 1989 until 1997, where after he returned to Japan.
He returned to Southern California in 1999 and currently serves as Chief Instructor of Ikazuchi Dojo, Chief Instructor of the UCI Aikido program and Chief Instructor of his Aikido Doshinokai organization in Los Angeles.
Matsuoka Sensei leads Aikido seminars around the world and is one of the featured instructors at Aiki Expo 2005.
